Harvey’s on the Mall
February 1, 2009
Kalamazoo, Michigan
No moon
Weather: Cold & snowy
Investigators present: Dan Holroyd, Scott Perin, Denise Gowen-Kreuger, Deb Sachetti, Wendy Allen, Andru Hunter
The investigation was conducted from 2am-5am.
Base EMF readings taken for the building were in the lower range of 1.3-2.7 due to all the electrical devices located on the bars and in the kitchen areas.
We set up three IR cameras and one night shot. Camera #1 was set up in the main bar area facing the fireplace. Camera #2 was set up in the upper level rear sitting room. Camera #3 was set up in the upper level bar area facing the bar. The night shot camera was set up in the grill area facing the south wall.
We did experience a significant reading on the Mel-meter and the K-2 meter early into the investigation. Near the front of the restaurant at the main window we encountered something responding to our questions during an EVP session through the K-2. We believe that our team member was able to contact Dr. McKibbin who, according to our research, was a doctor who resided at the building when it was a home in 1897. Our meter recorded movement in response to certain questions posed to the entity we believe we were in contact with. We also recorded that the main staircase had movement as well which registered on our Mel-meter. These readings were from 0.1-54 (and at one point near 90) which is very significant!
During the investigation of the basement area (the front east section), we also encountered high EMF readings on the Mel-meter and the LED EMF meter. At that time, I was hit in the left ear by a piece of foam. This was strange because there was no foam on any pipes or any other object in this area.
Upon moving near the staircase to exit the basement, I was examining the apparent tunnels which seem to start at the north wall and travel west for quite a distance when I noticed a sump pump running. As I commented on the tunnels, my digital voice recorder picked up a voice! After reviewing this, it clearly says “HELP!” very clear and very loud.
Many personal experiences were recorded on this investigation. We had responses in the kitchen area next to the dishwasher station and we also recorded something in our night shot camera clanging, banging and then moving the camera slightly with no investigators present in the area. Several EVPs were captured by team members in different area of the building and recorded for evidence review.
Overall, this was a great experience and investigation. The activity was in the range of 9 out of 10 on our scale of activity. We hope to return again for another investigation and capture more.
