We began setup at 20:00 hrs (08:00pm) at the historic private residence located on the outskirts of Kalamazoo on the border near Portage. The family has owned the property for 81 years and their legacy is rich and important to the area. This farm was a solid landmark for the neighbors and the farming community that was present in the area from the 1800's to the 1960's. The family that currently owns it were the second owners of this property.

The reports of activity are within recent years and have been said to be of an older woman which the family has identified as possibly their great-grandmother. The grandmother passed away in the house right where the hallway and the kitchen meet. They have all also shared the fact that they have had very vivid dreams of family members who have passed that lived in the house. This is only important as the family is currently selling the property. We believe the selling of the property may have a connection to the recent activity.

We set up our IR cameras in several spots indoors and one outdoors in the barn. Camera #1 was set up in the upstairs bedroom which was reported to have a woman looking out of the window; camera #2 was set up in the kitchen area facing the hallway where the grandmother passed away; camera #3 was located in the basement; and camera #4 was set up in the barn which boasted in the day quite the activity of weddings, parties and farm get-togethers.

Team #1 was Dan, Jack and the client "Jim". Denise, Deb, and Dyana worked as team #2. Team #1 worked the property and barn first while team #2 worked the farm house. We also broadcasted live this night on our radio show as we conducted the investigation.

The first experience we had was in the back of the property. Jack and Dan saw a huge dark shadow moving in the woods. We do not believe this was an animal as we heard no noise attached to the movement and our flashlights when raised showed nothing there as it dissipated immediately! We ran several EVP sessions out on the property and the barns but seemed to get no response. We then went in the house and worked the basement while the girls worked the upstairs. In the basement we had several K-2 hits but ruled them out due to it being caused by our cell phone that was being used to broadcast to the show. We did experience a large black shadow run between Jack and Dan as the client also saw it and yelled quite loud about it! (lol) However, he was not scared, he was so amazed and excited to see it at that moment and then we also got our first huge K-2 hit. "I stepped back as it rushed right up to me then crossing to the left out of sight into the basement wall".

The night was filled with very personal images, names, and moments for me as I am sure the previous owners and grandparents were trying to contact me and the family. Of course, this is only personal experience but the items I shared with the family on the first interview and walk-through as well as this night were all 100% right on! Denise and I also felt that there were spirits there from a previous family. Again, this is only our personal thoughts.

The investigation was well rounded and went well. The highlight of night came as we used a device known as the radio shack hack box. We used this device before and have noticed it does seem to be a working device although we are also aware there are skeptical reports of its use as evidence – so we take it with a grain of salt. With the family present, we experimented with the device and asked very specific questions. We got several very distinct answers - the family and us. We were all amazed. We then used it in the barn with "Jim" present, and again we were amazed at the responses on this machine. We all heard a man’s voice answer my questions and at one point telling us he was lonely sometimes. Wow! We sure are going to experiment with this device more! Is this definite proof? Well, no, but we know what we heard as does the client. My feeling is we will use this again and again to gauge how accurately this device really does work.

We ended the investigation at 23:56 (11:56pm) and broke down our equipment. We thanked the family for their participation and open-mindedness to let us come in document their house. They have invited us back soon to do a follow up investigation. I am sure the report of Team #2 should be interesting as well, and more will be recorded when the evidence is screened and reviewed.
